Passed peacefully, on November 16, 2022 at age 104 at Milton District Hospital. Daughter of the late Lottie Kerman (née Dennis) and the late Isaac Kerman. Much loved wife of the late Clarence Rognvaldson (1995). Devoted mother to daughters Janet Taylor (Robert 2003) and Nancy Coquard (Gérard). Dear “Grandma” to Michelle Taylor, Catherine Coquard, Jennifer (Taylor) Kowch and Christopher Coquard and adored “Granny” to Abigail, Noah, Raheema, Samuel, Mariam and Grace. Beloved sister of the late Erma (Cyril) Campbell, Helen (James) Marsh, Elsie (Ken) Forbes and brother Lloyd Kerman. Survived by her sister Ruth (Edward) Whitehead and her sister-in-law Ann (Douglas) Rognvaldson. Loving sister-in-law she was predeceased by Freda and Herbert Rognvaldson, Mabel and Bill Doll, Gordon and Helen Rognvaldson, Vera and Harold Bailey, Laura and Ewart Guay, Douglas Rognvaldson and Myrtle and Ellis Rognvaldson. Dorothy treasured her special friend Connie Burt.

Dorothy was born in Oshawa and grew up on her parents’ dairy farm. She left school after grade 8 to become her father’s “Right Hand Man” during the Depression. She hated cows and vowed never to live on a farm. During the war she worked at Sick Children’s Hospital and in August 1942 she married Clarence “Sonny” Rognvaldson. After the war in 1945, the couple moved to Acton where Dorothy became an active member of the community and Trinity United Church. Dorothy worked many years at the Acton Free Press and after retirement she volunteered for the Red Cross. Dorothy was honoured as Citizen of the Year in 2011. She received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Award in 2012 and was given the ceremonial key to Halton Hills on her 100th birthday in April 2018. Dorothy will be sadly missed by the members of her extended family and her friends in Acton where she lived for almost 80 years.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Dorothy in Acton during the summer of 2023. If desired, donations may be made to the Milton District Hospital Foundation, Trinity United Church, the Red Cross or to the charity of your choice.
