Obituary for Sylvia Ash

ASH, Sylvia Mabel
December 18, 1945 – December 28, 2020

It is with incredible sadness the family of Sylvia Ash announce her tragic passing on Monday, December 28, 2020.
She is survived by her husband Colin, daughter Julie and sons Alun (Laura), Jason (Angela). She was the incredibly proud grandmother of Trent (Brie), Kyle (Angela), Brittany (Mike), Jayme and Austin and great-grandmother (G.G.) to Savanna, Nathan, Kiera, Lexi, Avery, Charlotte, Isla, Ryker and Madelyn.
Sylvia was born in Aberfan, Wales December 18, 1945 a place that continued to be dear to her heart. It was a place of solace for her in which she traveled to annually. Her travels to Wales were filled with hikes up the mountain and in the evening gathering with friends and family in the club.
After moving to England, she then moved in 1975 with her family to Canada and made Acton her home. She was an involved member of the Acton community.
Although Sylvia had worked at Mohawk Raceway, she was most recognized while working for Acton Pharmacy alongside Bill Yundt and her many long-time Acton co-workers. She later transitioned to Pharma-Plus and continued to be dedicated to customer service.
She spent many years working with the O.P.P. and Halton Regional Police Victims Services, volunteered with Halton Children’s Aid, Education Day at the Acton Fall Fair and could be seen on many election days working as a scrutineer.
However, Sylvia was most happy hosting family gatherings, watching a hockey game with Colin, chatting with her friends or teaching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren how to perfectly make Welsh cakes while teaching them phrases in Welsh. She will be remembered by her genuinely happy smile that she greeted people with and her want to help others in times of need.
A small reception with immediate family will be held on Friday, January 08. A spring interment will be at Fairview Cemetery alongside her parents, Letaresa and David Hollett (Letty and Dai).
The Ash family would like to sincerely thank the Halton Hills Fire Department, Halton EMS, Halton Police and the Georgetown District Hospital for their efforts that morning.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Diabetes Association or a charity of one’s choice.
