BROOSTAD, Shirley Ione (nee Price)
September 30, 1930 – April 27, 2019
Peacefully passed away, on Saturday, April 27, 2019 with her family by her side, at Hospice Wellington at the age of 88 years. She will be sadly missed by her beloved husband of 67 years Lloyd. Loving mother of David (Laurie) and Andrea Mann (James). Proud grandmother of Allison Dobbyn (Ian), Amanda Martin (Jason Newland), Christopher Martin (Danielle Deal), Jenny Finnimore (Dean), Geoffrey Martin, Darren Broostad (Courtney), Claire Martin (Michael Currie) and Derek Broostad. Great-grandmother of Sophie and Jackson Dobbyn, Caleb and Lila Sanders, Rylan Currie, Greydin and Brennan Finnimore. Dear sister of Betty Thibault and Glenys Taylor (Bruce) and sister-in-law of Winnie Hudson. Shirley will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. She was predeceased by her son Kevin (March 6, 1976), parents Elmo and Catherine Price, brother Elmo, sister-in-law’s Thelma Price, Helen Broostad, Mabel Morrison, May Bradford, brother-in-law’s Arthur Thibault, Edward Broostad, Allan Morrison, David Bradford and Allan Hudson.
Shirley loved her family and friends with all her heart, had a life-long passion for the profession of Nursing and caring for others, was a devoted member of St Alban’s Anglican Church, cherished the community of Acton and received many awards for her volunteerism there, including Acton Citizen of the Year in 2017. She will be remembered for the many, many lives she touched in her long and accomplished life.
Friends will be received at the MacKinnon Family Funeral Home, 55 Mill St. E., Acton, on Sunday, May 5, 2019 from 1-4 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Monday, May 6, 2019 at St. Alban the Martyr Anglican Church, 19 St. Alban’s Dr., Acton at 11 a.m. Interment will be held at Fairview Cemetery at a later date.
