Obituary for Gary Russell Mitchell
MITCHELL, Gary Russell
March 8, 1949 – January 11, 2019
It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Gary Russell Mitchell peacefully at the Credit Valley Hospital, surrounded by family, on Friday January, 11, 2019 in his 70th year. Predeasced by his wife Victoria (2017). Loving father of Jared C.P. Mitchell (Kiela) and Kristin C. Bailey (Corey). Cherished grandfather of Lincoln and Quinton Bailey. Survived by his sister Beverly Forrest (Jim) and sister-in-law Janis Mitchell. Gary was predeceased by his parents Fredrick (1996) and Dorothy (2017) Mitchell and brother Gordon Mitchell (2017).
Gary was born in Toronto. His career started as a baggage handler at Wardair while he was attending York University. He was promoted to Director of Purchasing and he worked from 1972 -1989 at Wardair. He continued his career in aviation until his retirement in 2014. He enjoyed playing darts with his friends and organized a dart league at the Red Harp in Acton. He loved the annual anniversary trips, cottaging at Wasaga Beach and Nine Mile Lake, family celebrations, dinners and barbeques. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
A celebration of Gary’s life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 197 Acton (15 Wright Ave., Acton) on Friday, January 18, 2019 from 1-3 p.m. Cremation has taken place.
In lieu, of flowers donations to Knox Presbyterian Church, Acton, would be appreciated by the family.
