With his daughter and son-in-law by his side, Dave passed away on June 9, 2017 at the Bennett Centre in Georgetown. Predeceased by Kay, his loving wife of 64 years. Dave will be forever cherished in the hearts of his daughter Kathleen and husband Steven Hartnagle, grandsons Joseph David (JD) and Matthew Dean and his brother and sister-in-law James and Shirley Dills and family and the families of his sister, the late Frances Prosser and her husband Clare. He will be missed by Pippa, his canine companion.
Born and raised in Acton, Dave attended Acton public and continuation schools. He was very active in Scouting as a King Scout and later Scout Master and District Commissioner. He served in the Royal Canadian Navy and is a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Acton Branch. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 60 years. He was the 1972 Acton Citizen of the Year. He had a deep interest in military history and a love of marching bands, rarely missing a performance by the Acton Citizens Band.
Dave, with his brother Jim operated Dills Printing and Publishing from 1954 to 1978 where the Acton Free Press, The Milton Canadian Champion and the Georgetown Independent were published.
Dave had many happy days at Leonard Lake surrounded by family, always with a project, except on sunny days.
The family is grateful for the loving care and support he received from friends and staff at the Legion Terrace Apartments, CCAC, Georgetown Hospital and the Bennett Centre staff.
The family of the late David Dills would like to invite those who wish to attend a celebration of his life on Thursday, August 3, 2017 at the Acton Town Hall, 19 Willow St. N., Acton from 7-9 p.m.
